EXPLORE
AZERBAIJAN
Azerbaijan features four out of the five climate zones found on planet earth in an area the size of Austria or South Carolina. You can experience a mild Mediterranean climate in the Southeast, sub-tropical in the Northwest, desert around the Absheron peninsula, steppe in much of the interior, and subarctic and tundra in the Caucasus Mountains.
In this transcontinental nation at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, topography varies as much as temperature. Much of the country sits below sea level and then rises to 14,652 feet (4,465m) at Mount Bazarduzu. Between the Greater Caucasus mountains in the north and the Lesser Caucasus range in the south lies the Kura valley, home to over 8,000 streams and rivers which flow southeast into the Caspian Sea.
EXPERIENCE
AZERBAIJAN
Part of the Turkic world, Azerbaijan has been at the crossroads of civilizations for millennia. Found along the ancient Silk Road and geographically connecting Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan's culture and architecture is an exotic blend of both. The country also blends past and future, with prehistoric petroglyphs, ancient Zoroastrian temples, medieval castles, as well as modern skyscrapers, malls, hotels, and ski and beach resorts with its capital city of Baku dubbed "the Paris of the East."
